Fishing Conditions and Trip Planner
Memories made out on the water with your friends and family will last a lifetime! In addition, youth who fish have greater confidence, self-esteem, and resilience than their peers. However, girls stop fishing at an 11% higher rate than boys. Let’s get them back on the water! The resources below will help you plan the perfect outing. With weekly fishing reports, the interactive fishing map, and fishing conditions by water body and species at your fingertips, a great fishing trip for you and your family awaits!
The Department releases a Weekly Fishing Report that provides up-to-date information on fishing conditions at numerous water bodies throughout the state. Weekly Fishing Reports for 2016 to 2019 were used to develop figures depicting fishing conditions for several species and water bodies throughout the year. Each figure represents the average fishing conditions for each week of the year over the four-year period.
Please note that fishing conditions may be different than those displayed on figures depending on lake levels, stream flows, or weather conditions. Always check local conditions and the most recent fishing report for the water body you plan to fish.
Current fishing regulations can be found in the latest Fishing Rule and Information Booklet located here: www.wildlife.state.nm.us/fishing/game-fish/. If you have questions or comments about the NMDGF Fishing Conditions and Trip Planner, please email them to dgf-fishinggraphs@dgf.nm.gov.
