ROSWELL – New Mexico Department of Game and Fish officers are investigating a headless antelope buck found on July 3, 2013 at 9:30am near the intersection of Bland Street and Red Bridge Road. Cause of death appeared to be blunt force trauma possibly caused by a vehicle collision.
There are currently no antelope at this specific area in Roswell, officers believe the male antelope was dumped at this location once the head was removed and unlawfully taken.
Given level of decomposition, it was likely killed on July 2, 2013. New Mexico State Police in Roswell advised that they have not investigated any wildlife related vehicle collisions in the previous three days.
Officers are asking the public to help with information that can assist in this case.
The department offers rewards for information that leads to charges against wildlife law violators. Callers can remain anonymous and may receive $350 for information about cases involving antelope.
