SUMMARY:Catron County 3D Archery Shoot
DESCRIPTION:This 3-D archery shoot will consist of approximately 15 targets set up around the perimeter of the Apache Creek Campground north of Reserve. Participants are allowed to bring their own bows and arrows\, or they may borrow arrows and recurve bows from the Department of Wildlife. Participants will be shooting field-tipped arrows. Targets will range from 10-60 yards and each target will have a backstop to prevent arrows from traveling further distances. With enough participants\, divisions may be created based on equipment\, age and gender\, and other short bow-shooting competitions may take place with prizes awarded. The U.S. Forest Service may also be present with a booth or equipment of their own. \nThis event is meant to foster community relations and provide opportunity for the residents of Catron County\, but the event is open to anyone. \nRegistration will take place the morning of June 27. If there are enough participants\, there will be six divisions: Men’s Open; Women’s Open; Youth Open; Men’s Traditional/NASP; Women’s Traditional/NASP; and Youth Traditional/NASP.

SUMMARY:Leftover draw licenses go on sale July 8
DESCRIPTION:SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Wildlife will have 537 leftover deer licenses from the 2026-2027 big-game draw available for sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday\, July 8\, through the Department’s Online License System. \nThe leftover license sale will be open exclusively to New Mexico residents for the first 24 hours. If licenses remain\, the sale will open to nonresidents at 10 a.m. Thursday\, July 9. \nHunters must possess a 2026-2027 Game Hunting or Game Hunting and Fishing License before purchasing a leftover deer license\, and should buy any required stamps before the sale opens. Hunters planning to purchase a leftover license should also complete all mandatory 2025-2026 harvest reporting requirements before July 8. Purchases that fail the post-sale audit because of incomplete harvest reporting will be rejected\, and only the license fee will be refunded. \nFor more information\, hunters and outfitters may contact the Department’s Information Center at 888-248-6866 or email ispa@dgf.nm.gov. \nAvailable hunts are listed chronologically in the table below. The first column lists the Game Management Unit for each hunt\, followed by the legal hunt dates. The hunt code indicates the species\, legal sporting arms\, dates\, area\, fee type and bag limit for each hunt listed. Following the three-letter species code (DER)\, the first number represents the legal weapon for that hunt (a 2 indicates a bow-only hunt\, while a 3 indicates a muzzleloader\, crossbow or bow-only hunt). \nThe final column of the table represents the bag limit for each hunt code. FAD represents one fork-antlered deer (white-tailed or mule deer); FAMD represents one fork-antlered mule deer; and FAWTD represents one fork-antlered white-tailed deer. \nMore information is available in the 2026-2027 Hunting Rules and Information Booklet.
