DESCRIPTION:This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending. Please see registration details below. \nInterested applicants need to first become a certified Game and Fish volunteer. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer: \n\nCreate a Customer Identification Account (CIN) with the Department at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/\nEmail the Conservation Education Manager\, Storm Usrey\, at stormw.usrey@dgf.nm.gov for the appropriate volunteer application documents.\nOnce the application is approved\, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account.

SUMMARY:Quail Hunting Camp
DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish\, in conjunction with Safari Club International Foundation\, will host a beginner adult Quail Hunting Camp\, at Rockhound State Park\, in Deming\, on Nov. 21-23\, 2025. Campers will be provided with everything from instruction to gear to meals. Campers will need to provide their own hunting licenses\, tent or wheeled camper\, sleeping bag\, and sleeping pad. Open to adults with little or no hunting experience and those who have never hunted quail. \nRegistration will open at 8 am on Monday\, Nov. 3\, 2025. It will close when the camp is full. DESCRIPTION:This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture\, video\, hands-on break-out sessions\, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent or adult present with them during class. All registered students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. The manual can be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/ or students can pick up a free hard copy manual between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.\, M-F at the Army National Guard\, 1101 W Navajo Street\, Farmington\, NM 87401. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class. \nRegistration opens on Dec. 3\, 2025\, at 9 a.m. and is conducted online through the student’s Customer ID Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account\, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.
