All archery equipment will be provided; however\, participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment if they have it. Camping is available at the State Park per reservation. Participants are responsible for all food and drinks. SUMMARY:Catron County 3D Archery Shoot
DESCRIPTION:This 3-D Archery Shoot consists of 15 targets set up around the exterior of the Apache Creek Campground. Participants will be able to be bring their own bows and arrows\, or may borrow recurve bow and arrows from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. Participants will be using archery equipment discharging their bows which will be shooting field tipped arrows. The distances for each target will vary from 10-60 yards and each target will have a backstop preventing the arrows from traveling further distances. With enough participants\, divisions may be created based on equipment\, age\, and gender. Other activities may include a pellet gun trailer provided by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish\, which is an enclosed shooting range for air rifles inside the trailer. The U.S. Forest Service may also be present with a booth or equipment of their own. This event is meant to foster community relations and provide opportunity for the residents of Catron County\, but the event is open to everyone. \nRegistration will take place on the morning of June 28. With enough participation\, there will be six different divisions: Men’s Open; Women’s Open; Youth Open; Men’s Traditional/NASP; Women’s Traditional/NASP; Youth Traditional/NASP

DESCRIPTION:This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture\, video\, break-out sessions\, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at the NM Game and Fish Southeast Area Office\, 1615 W. College Blvd.\, Roswell\, NM 88203. The manual can also be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class. \nRegistration opens on June 30 and is conducted online through the student’s Customer ID Number (CIN) Account. DESCRIPTION:This course is open to students of any age seeking hunter education certification to meet hunting requirements in New Mexico. This course is an instructor-led student course that incorporates lecture\, video\, break-out sessions\, review methods and homework to educate students. Students 10 and under must have a parent/adult present with them during class. All students MUST complete the Today’s Hunter student manual homework before participating in class. Students can pick up a free hard copy manual at the NM Game and Fish Southeast Area Office\, 1615 W. College Blvd.\, Roswell\, NM 88203. The manual can also be downloaded for free at www.hunter-ed.com/newmexico/manual/. Students are required to turn in their completed manual worksheets upon arrival to class. \nRegistration opens on June 30 and is conducted online through the student’s Customer ID Number (CIN) Account. Once in the account\, click on Hunter Education then click the Register for Hunter Ed Classes button and follow the prompts.

SUMMARY:Hunter Education Instructor Training Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is required to become a certified hunter education instructor and will certify the individual to teach both the Traditional and the Field Day Hunter Education student courses. This workshop also provides a NM Hunter Education certification to new instructors who need a required NM hunter education number. All participants must register prior to attending. Please see registration details below. \nInterested applicants need to first become a certified Game and Fish volunteer. Below are the steps to become a certified volunteer: \n\nCreate a Customer Identification Account (CIN) with the Department at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/\nEmail the Conservation Education Manager\, Storm Usrey\, at stormw.usrey@dgf.nm.gov for the appropriate volunteer application documents.\nOnce the application is approved\, certified volunteers can sign-up for the hunter education workshop through their CIN account.

DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will host a beginner Waterfowl Hunting Workshop\, at the Albuquerque Game and Fish office at 7816 Alamo Road NW. This will be on Sunday\, August 24\, from 9 am until 4 pm. Participants will learn hunting techniques\, waterfowl identification\, necessary gear\, rules and regulations\, locations and calls. Open to adults with little or no waterfowl hunting experience. \nRegistration will open at 8 am on Monday\, August 11\, 2025. It will close when the workshop is full. SUMMARY:Small Game Hunting Camp
DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish in conjunction with New Mexico Outdoor Adventures will host a beginner family Small Game Hunting Camp\, at El Caso Forest Service campground\, near Quemado Lake\, on September 26-28\, 2025. Campers will be provided with everything from instruction to gear to meals. Campers will need to provide their own hunting licenses\, tent or wheeled camper\, sleeping bag\, and sleeping pad. We will have a reserved group camping area at the campground. Open to families with little or no hunting experience and have never hunted squirrels. \nRegistration will open at 8 am on Monday\, September 8\, 2025. It will close when the camp is full.
