FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, MARCH 15, 2012: |
EAGLE NEST LAKE CLOSED TO ICE FISHING EAGLE NEST – Eagle Nest Lake is closed to ice fishing and other activities on the ice because of recent warm weather and winds that caused rapidly deteriorating and unsafe ice conditions, the Department of Game and Fish and New Mexico State Parks announced. The lake is still mostly covered with ice, but it is soft and beginning to break up. Fishing is allowed from the bank where there is open water, and as open areas expand, fishing should be excellent. Anglers are advised to contact the state park for current fishing and ice conditions at (575) 377-1594. Eagle Nest Lake State Park will remain open for camping and other activities. For information about fishing in northeastern New Mexico, please contact the Department of Game and Fish in Raton at (505) 445-2311. Information also is available on the Department of Game and Fish or New Mexico State Parks respective Web sites, www.wildlife.state.nm.us and www.nmparks.com. |
